WENDY MARTIN has been appointed Head of Performance and Dance at Southbank Centre, taking up her post full-time on 9 May. Previously she spent three years as the Sydney Opera House’s Head of Theatre and Dance.

 

British East Asian theatre company Yellow Earth has appointed KUMIKO MENDL, one of the theatre’s founder members, as its new Artistic Director.

KATIE GILL is the new Gallery Development Worker at Artlink. She takes over from CARA SUTHERLAND who is now Curator for the community arts centre in Hull.

SELINA MEHRA is the new Campaigns and Events Officer at the National Campaign for the Arts. She takes over from Campaigns Manager, JOHN MUNRO, who leaves to take up a public affairs position with the British Retail Consortium.

EMILIA TELESE, one of the 12 members of the advisory group for the artists’ advocacy organisation The Artists Information Company, is leaving after seven years to concentrate on her practice as an artist.

Liverpool Arabic Arts Festival has appointed guest curator ECKHARD THIEMANN to curate the 2011 Festival.

Three members of the Arts Council of Wales’s council, EMMA EVANS, MARGARET JERVIS and KATE WOODWARD, will stay on for another three years.

GRAHAM SHEFFIELD CBE is to join the British Council as its new Director of Arts at the beginning of May. He has just left his post as Chief Executive of the West Kowloon Cultural District in Hong Kong Artistic and was previously Director of the Barbican.

Belfast-based educational theatre company Replay Productions has appointed ANNA NEWELL as Artistic Director. She comes from a similar post at the Centre for Excellence in the Creative and Performing Arts at Queen’s University Belfast.

London and Cambridge-based insurance specialist La Playa has made two key internal appointments, promoting TRACEY MCCREATH to Director, Media, Arts & Entertainment, and PAULA HAWTHORNE to Head of Performing Arts.

DAVID BELL has been elected Chair of Spark Children’s Arts Festival. A former board member, David has 20 years of experience of strategy, planning and project management in the NHS and local government.

GEOFF MULGAN is to be the new Chief Executive of the National Endowment for Science Technology and the Arts (NESTA). Before joining the Young Foundation six years ago as Chief Executive, his numerous previous roles include being the founder of the think-tank Demos, former head of policy in the Prime Minister's office, advisor to governments around the world and visiting professor at LSE, UCL and Melbourne universities.

The Hallé orchestra has appointed HELEN GRIME as its new Associate Composer.
