RAY DAVIES, lead singer and rhythm guitarist with The Kinks, is to be Artistic Director of the eighteenth Meltdown Festival at Southbank Centre.

 

Director of Corn Exchange Newbury and New Greenham Arts NICK GILES is leaving to become Executive Producer of the Donmar Warehouse, replacing JAMES BIERMAN.

MARCUS DAVEY, Chief Executive and Artistic Director of the Roundhouse, has been appointed to the London Council of Arts Council England. He became Chief Executive of The Roundhouse Trust in 1999, and was appointed Artistic Director in 2008.

National Dance Company Wales has appointed ANDREW DAVIES as its new Chair, replacing Professor Sir ADRIAN WEBB who stood down in October.

ALEXIS REDMOND is to become Ambassador Patron of FACT, SARAH FISHER has been appointed Chair and trustee BARNEY LEAF joins MARK THOMAS as Vice Chair. Fisher was most recently Head of Visual Arts at Arts Council England, North West, and replaces Sir DRUMMOND BONE, who has stepped down as Chair but remains on the Board as a Trustee.

VIKKI MIZON has moved from Sadler’s Wells to become the new Marketing & PR Officer at ArtsDepot, replacing CUIFEN CHEN who has moved to Australia.

LUCY GLOVER has joined Retina Dance Company as Marketing Manager.

English National Opera has appointed DAN PHELAN as Director of Communications to cover NADINE THOMPSON’s maternity leave. He is currently Head of Communications at BBC Radio 3. ELIZABETH BARRETT will replace REBECCA DRIVER as Head of Press, moving from the V&A where she was maternity cover Head of Press.

JANE BRYANT is the new Chief Executive of Artswork, the national youth arts development agency, taking over from VIRGINIA HAWORTH-GALT. She was formerly Project Director for Find your Talent – PUSH.

Axis, an online resource for contemporary art, has appointed ALICIA MILLER as Axis Ambassador for Wales, a post funded for twelve months by the Arts Council of Wales. She has been Head of Education and Public Events at Whitechapel Gallery, and Project Manager for the Bristol Visual Arts Consortium and Visual Arts West.

RACHEL STROUD is leaving her role as Press and Marketing Officer at Unicorn Theatre to take up the post of Marketing Manager: Youth Programme at the Roundhouse.

GRAHAM HITCHEN is the new Chair of Creative Islington, and KATY FATTUHI, former Marketing and Communications Manager at Southwark Arts Forum, is the new Director.

The Cinema and Television Benevolent Fund has appointed PETER TAYLOR to its Board of Trustees. He is currently Managing Director.

Skillset’s longest-serving Chair, CLIVE JONES, will leave in December after eight years. STEWART TILL, Chief Executive of Icon Entertainment UK, will take over as Chair in January.

James Purnell, former Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport, has been appointed to the Board of the National Theatre. Caroline Ansdell is leaving her role as Events Press Officer to join Sadlers Wells. She will be replaced by Laura Horton from Theatre Royal, Plymouth.
