Cheltenham Festivals has appointed Meurig Bowen (pictured) as Director of its Music Festival, for the start of the 2008 season. He has previously served as Head of Programming at Aldeburgh and as Director of the Lichfield Festival.

Marion Bourbouze is joining Scottish Book Trust, as Audience Development & Marketing Manager. She has previously worked as Marketing & Development Director for The Audience Business.

Sarah Giles (pictured), currently the Development Officer at Hall for Cornwall, will take up her position as Corporate Membership Manager at the National Theatre next month.

Dame Liz Forgan, Chair of the Scott Trust, the ultimate owner of the Guardian, has been appointed to the board of the Department for Culture, Media and Sport. She is also Chair of the Heritage Lottery Fund and a board member of the Conservatoire for Dance and Music. 

East Midlands orchestra sinfonia ViVA has appointed Jon Ashford-Smith as Head of Development. He joins from Derby Playhouses development department and previously worked for the homelessness charity, Derbyshire Housing Aid.

Rose Lejeune has been appointed Projects Curator at Open Eye Gallery, Liverpool. She has previously worked as a freelance curator, most recently working with aspex, Portsmouth and Gasworks Gallery, London.

The National Galleries of Scotland has announced that Senior Curator Emilie Gordenker (pictured) has been appointed as the Director of the Royal Picture Gallery Mauritshuis in The Hague, the Netherlands. She takes up her new role in January 2008, and replaces Frederik J. Duparc, who has announced his resignation.

Imogen Smart is to be the part-time General Manager of The Florestan Trust, which promotes the chamber music group The Florestan Trio.

Cockpit Arts has appointed Abigail Branagan (pictured) as Market Development Manager. She was previously Market Development Officer for the Crafts Council and project managed COLLECT 2006 the international art fair for contemporary objects at the V&A. Emma Thatcher (pictured) has also joined Cockpit Arts as Professional Development Co-ordinator, and was previously Arts Administrator for Magic Me.

Patricia Coleman (pictured) has been appointed as the new Chair of Culture East Midlands. A former Deputy Chief Executive at Manchester City Council and Director of the countrys largest library service at Birmingham City Council, she currently runs her own consultancy business.

Professor David Hayward has been appointed as the new Head of the Department of Art at Canterbury Christ Church University. He has previously worked as Deputy Head of the University College for the Creative Arts in Canterbury, and as an Ofsted Inspector of Colleges.

Sarah Bruce (pictured) is leaving her position as Promotion Manager at Ricordi London at the beginning of September, to launch a new artists management company, Lomonaco Artists.
