Alan Bishop (pictured) currently Chief Executive of the Central Office of Information, will become Chief Executive of Southbank Centre. He succeeds Michael Lynch who will leave in April 2009.

Neil Simpson is the newly appointed manager of The Storey, a centre for the creative industries, based in Lancaster’s Storey Institute. He has directed Bury Met’s youth theatre, was dance development officer for Stockport’s arts team, and worked with Action Factory Community Arts before joining the Creative Lancashire team three years ago.

Richard Erwin-Jones (pictured) is leaving both Groundwork and Arts Council East Midlands to take up a full-time post as Information and Communication Strategic Arts Officer with Nottinghamshire County Council.

Edward Pysden is retiring as Board Chairman of the Hallé Orchestra. He is succeeded by David McKeith, who is a member of the NW Business Leadership Team and for the past year has been President of Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce.

Michael Stanley is Modern Art Oxford’s new Director. He was previously Gallery Curator at Ikon, Birmingham.

Pauline Tambling (pictured) has been promoted to become Chief Operating Officer of Creative & Cultural Skills, having been Executive Director of Programmes for the past year. Tom Bewick becomes Group Chief Executive following the decision to establish the National Skills Academy as a wholly owned subsidiary earlier this year.

Torridge District Council has appointed Miranda Clarke to the new role of Visual Arts Manager at the Burton Art Gallery and Museum in Bideford.

Andrew Higgins (pictured), previously Head of Communications and Development at Hackney Empire and English Touring Opera, has joined Glyndebourne as Head of Membership and Development. He replaces Sarah Dalton, who is now Head of Major Gifts & Individual Giving at Glyndebourne.

Frances Mann is the new Director of Marketing and Business Development at Town Hall & Symphony Hall in Birmingham.

Marian Cullen has been appointed as Education Manager for The John Clare Trust, which is currently developing John Clare Cottage in Peterborough into an educational resource.

The PR and marketing agency ‘Think’ has announced that Laura Finn will become its new Account Manager. She joins from FACT, where she was Press and Communications Manager.

Paul Russ (pictured), currently at Arts Council England East, will join Dance4 as Director in December. He replaces Nicky Molloy, who resigned earlier this year. He will take responsibility for the strategic and artistic direction of the Nottingham-based organisation.

Jamie Perry, Communications Manager at Audiences Central, is leaving to become the Head of Marketing and Communications at the Herbert Gallery in Warwickshire.

Louise Skinner is leaving Lighthouse in Poole to work as a freelance in Marketing, Communications and PR . She is replaced by Danielle Rose.

The Royal Northern College of Music has appointed Sir Willard White (pictured) as its President. He takes over from the outgoing President, the Duchess of Kent, who has held the post since 1973.

Urmala Jassal has joined South Asian Dance company, sampad, as Programmes Manager, and Lisa Murray from DanceXchange has joined as Marketing and Press Officer. Former Operations Manager, Skinder Hundal, has left to become Chief Executive at the New Art Exchange in Nottingham.

Rebecca Driver has moved from the BBC Proms and BBC Symphony Orchestra to become a publicist at Radio 3.
