Brian Lang will succeed Tom Thomson as the next Chair of the Royal Scottish National Orchestra. He is Principal and Vice-Chancellor of the University of St Andrews, Deputy Chair of the National Heritage Memorial Fund and Chair of the Heritage Lottery Fund’s Committee for Scotland.

Venu Dhupa has left her post as Director of Arts at the British Council. She will continue to work with the organisation in her capacity as Member of the European Cultural Parliament.

Catherine Devenish, currently at Arts Council England, South West, is taking up the new post of Creative Economy Development Manager, developed for the south west region in response to its pilot status in the government’s ‘Creative Britain’ strategy and funded by SWRDA.

The Festivals Forum, which oversees the strategic development of Edinburgh’s Festivals, has announced the appointment of Susan Rice as Chair of the Forum. She is Chief Executive of Lloyds TSB Scotland and the first woman to head a UK clearing bank.

Esther Graham (pictured) has just joined Living Paintings as the charity’s Events Officer. She worked for eight years as a Picture and Textiles Cataloguer with auctioneers Dreweatts, and also edits the national newsletter of the Textile Society.

Jamie Normington has become Marketing Manager for Durham’s Gala Theatre and Cinema. He was formerly Head of Marketing for Eastbourne Theatres.

The audience development agency for the South West region has launched its new identity as Audiences South West. It was formerly known as South West Arts Marketing. Jim Brewster, previously of the Hampshire-based audience development agency amh, took up the new role of Strategic Development Manager in April.

Artist-curator Lucy Gibson has been appointed Audience Development Co-ordinator at Axis, the online resource for contemporary art.

Emma Gray has become Marketing and Development Officer at the Academy of Live and Recorded Arts (ALRA).

Sue Isherwood has been appointed Leading Learning Programme Director for the National Culture Forum. Previously Chair and Strategic Lead for nalgao, she has also worked for the Arts Council of Great Britain, Royal Photographic Society, Open University and British Film Institute.

Lincolnshire Music Development Agency soundLINCS has appointed David Lambert (pictured) as Chairman. He takes over from Helen Mason. He currently runs an independent arts management consultancy.

Three new members have been appointed to the Arts Council of Wales: Norah Campbell, Margaret Jervis and Kate Woodward.

Mick Elliott, Chief Executive of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, has been appointed Director of Culture at the DCMS. Sue Harrison has been appointed Acting Chief Executive in his place. Her previous roles have included Director of Arts at the British Council and Chief Executive of North West Arts Board.

Writer, editor and promoter Tom Chivers has been appointed the first Poet in Residence at Bishopsgate Institute, London.

Rosie Jackson is the new Press and Marketing Coordinator at Milton Keynes Gallery.

The Collective Gallery has appointed Kate Gray as Director. She previously worked for Artlink Edinburgh and the Lothians, as part of the artist team on the Fusion and Functionsuite collaborative projects in hospitals. She will replace outgoing Director Sarah Munro, who held the post for 13 years, and who now becomes General Manager of Tramway.

Annabel Turpin (pictured) is leaving Norden Farm Centre for the Arts to become Director of the Arc centre, Stockton on Tees.

Following almost two decades of involvement with the Circus Space, Charlie Holland, Programme Manager and Deputy Chief Executive, is to leave the organisation this summer.
