Andrew Comben (pictured), previously Head of Artistic Planning at Wigmore Hall, has been appointed as the new Chief Executive of Brighton Dome and Festival. His other past roles include Director of the Britten-Pears Young Artist Programme (Aldeburgh Festival).

Dr Paul Hedley takes on the role of the first General Manager of The Three Choirs Festival, a classical and choral festival. He is a professional musician and was previously Festival Administrator for the Gloucester Three Choirs Festival 2007.

Dr Rob Perks, Curator of Oral History at the British Library Sound Archive and Director of National Life Stories, has been appointed as a Visiting Professor in the University of Huddersfield’s School of Music, Humanities & Media.

Markus Stenz is to join the Hallé as its second Principal Guest Conductor, from 2009. As Music Director of the City of Cologne, he is currently Principal Conductor of Cologne Opera and the Gürzenich Orchestra. He was formerly Artistic Director and Chief Conductor of the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra and Principal Conductor of the London Sinfonietta.

The Liverpool Everyman and Playhouse Theatres sees Rowena Peers (pictured) joining as Development Manager. Her previous roles were Development Manager for the Royal Northern College of Music, and Trusts and Foundations Officer at National Museums Liverpool. Gemma Lynch (pictured) joins as Development Assistant. She has moved from Knowsley Council for Voluntary Service, where she was Fundraising Officer, having previously worked in development for the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic.

The Arts Council of Wales has appointed board members for the English Language National Theatre for Wales. They are: Chris Ryde – Vice Chair (Equity), Steve Blandford (University of Glamorgan), Jon Gower (Boomerang), Richard Hogger (Creu Cymru), Gemma McAvoy (Emptage Hallett Talent and Literary Agency), Deborah Martell Powell (KPMG), Judi Richards (Cardiff Council) and Peter Stead.

The poet and accountant Martin Figura has joined New Writing Partnership as its Finance Manager.

The Royal Northern College Music has awarded the position of Junior Fellow in Conducting to Eduardo Portal. The current Junior Fellow in Conducting, Ewa Strusinska, has just been named as the Hallé Orchestra’s new Assistant Conductor and is the first woman to hold an Assistant Conductorship in the UK. She succeeds Rory Macdonald.

Heidi Vaughan (pictured) is the new Head Of Learning at Oxford Playhouse. She comes from The Point in Eastleigh, where she launched The Point Young People’s Theatre. She previously worked as a director, workshop leader and facilitator, producer and actress in the South West.

Phil Olsen is leaving Tate Liverpool to take up the position of Marketing Officer at the Bluecoat arts centre.

Kerstin Glasow (pictured) takes over the role of Marketing and Communications Manager at the Courtauld Institute of Art. For the last five years she has been the Marketing Manager at the Badisches Landesmuseum in Karlsruhe in South West Germany.

Audiences Yorkshire, the region’s marketing and audience development agency for arts and culture, has appointed Oliver Mantell as Research Manager. He was previously Development Co-ordinator and before that Marketing Assistant at Sheffield Galleries and Museums.
