MPs and Peers have elected KEVIN BRENNAN as the new chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Music.

Cardiff West Labour MP Brennan, a former Shadow Culture Minister and keen musician and songwriter, was elected by group members on Wednesday (8 June). He replaces outgoing chair, Conservative MP DAVID WARBURTON

With more than 100 members, the APPG on Music is one the largest groups in Westminster, bringing together parliamentarians with an interest in the music industry to act as a forum between parliament and the sector.

Brennan has long advocated for improved musicians’ rights in the music industry, and tabled the ‘Brennan Bill’ last year, which called for equitable remuneration for artists but was voted down by MPs in the House of Commons.

“I’m looking forward to working with all sectors of the UK’s world-leading music industry on a huge range of issues,” Brennan said.

“This is a crucial time for the sector and I hope we can all work together to bring about positive changes and grow the industry.”
