PHILIP BERNAYS will retire as Chief Executive of Newcastle Theatre Royal at the end of the year.
He has been Chief Executive since 2005, during which time he has overseen the restoration of the theatre's Grade 1 Listed building, a rise in audiences and the organisation's 175th birthday.
The recruitment process for the new Chief Executive will commence in the next few weeks, with the aim of there being a smooth transition at the end of the year.
