SHOUBHIK BANDOPADHYAY has been named as Head of Programme - Arts at the Paul Hamlyn Foundation.
Bandopadhyay, who will join the Foundation in November, has previously worked with the Barbican, Nesta and the National Archives, alongside his own practice as a professional musician.
The Foundation says Bandopadhyay’s work will be crucial to meeting its overall aims and commitments to social justice and anti-racism, as it seeks to address inequalities, enrich young people’s creativity and change how art is created, presented, accessed and experienced.
Bandopadhyay said he said he is “excited and humbled” to be joining the Foundation and emphasised the need to “engage our imaginations and our grant-making skills to identify and support the organisations which can have the most impact”.
Chief Executive MOIRA SINCLAIR commented: “Shoubhik has learned and lived experience of the systems and issues in the arts sector where we want to see change. He impressed us with his ability to see the big picture and with his thinking about how we might use our resources to support meaningful transformation. That mix of skills and expertise will be of real value to our work as a grant-maker.”
Bandopadhyay’s appointment follows the Foundation’s recent announcements of a new Director of Grants, ABDOU SIDIBE, alongside their new Head of Programme – Migration, LETÍCIA ISHIBASHI, who will both join the Foundation in September 2022.
