Newly-appointed Arts Council of Wales Chief Executive SIÂN TOMOS is retiring due to poor health.

Council Chair Phil George said Tomos had "suffered debilitating health issues" since starting the role in June.

She was scheduled to takeover from outgoing Chief Executive NICK CAPALDI at the start of September.

"[Tomos] has come to the difficult conclusion that she cannot undertake the demanding role of Chief Executive and deliver the work in the way that she had imagined in the foreseeable future," George explained.

The council will now begin the process of recruiting a new Chief Executive.
