Chetham’s School of Music has announced that TOM REDMOND, who has performed with orchestras including the Hallé, the CBSO, Philharmonia and the LSO, will succeed STEPHEN THRELFALL as director of music from September 2019.

MATTHEW XIA, previously Associate Artistic Director at the Royal Exchange Theatre from 2014-17, and soon to direct performances at Hampstead Theatre, The Orange Tree and Nottingham Playhouse, has been appointed Artistic Director of Actors Touring Company (ATC). Professor TOM INNS has stepped down as Director of Glasgow School of Art after five years in charge, which spanned two major fires at the Mackintosh building. In his place, the school has appointed Professor IRENE MCARA-MCWILLIAM, who had been acting as joint interim Director alongside Professor KEN NEIL, after Inns left last month.
After ten years in Cambridge, most recently as Business Development Director for Cambridge Live and previously as Arts and Events Manager for Cambridge City Council, ELAINE MIDGLEY has been appointed Director of Bedford Creative Arts.
JOHN FISHER, who has been the Hodge International Chair in Opera at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, has been appointed as the first Artistic Director of the college’s David Seligman Opera School.
