ROWENA SOMMERVILLE will be stepping down as CEO of Tees Valley Arts this summer to engage with new creative projects. She has worked for the organisation since 1999, when it was Cleveland Arts.
JOHN FULLJAMES, Associate Director of Opera for the Royal Opera in London since 2011, has been named as the next Head of Opera for the Royal Danish Theatre in Copenhagen.

ELAINE BEDELL, former Director of Entertainment and Comedy at ITV, has been appointed Chief Executive of London’s Southbank Centre. She succeeds ALAN BISHOP, forming an all-female leadership team with JUDE KELLY as Artistic Director and SUSAN GILCHRIST as Chair.
After seven and a half years as Chief Executive of York Theatre Royal, LIZ WILSON has announced her intention to step down this year to pursue new opportunities.
Currently Curator-Director of Grundy Art Gallery in Blackpool, RICHARD PARRY has become Glasgow International’s new Director. He takes the reigns from SARAH MCCRORY, who has been appointed Director of the new contemporary art gallery at Goldsmiths, University of London.
JO COOMBER is the new Director of Public Engagement at National Galleries of Scotland. She joins from Dobbies Garden Centres, where she worked as Marketing Director.
Formerly Senior Consultant for the Audience Agency, PAMELA JOHNSON will join Arts Fundraising & Philanthropy as Head of Programme from June 2017.
The Playground Theatre has appointed ANTHONY BIGGS as Co-Artistic Director ahead of the opening of its new venue in Ladbroke Grove, West London. The former Artistic Director of Jermyn Street Theatre will share the title with the theatre’s founder, actor and producer PETER TATE.
Poet and literature programmer SARAH HESKETH has been appointed Artistic Co-Director of the biennial Winchester Poetry Festival, joining SASHA DUGDALE on the creative team. She takes over from KEIREN PHELAN, who programmed the previous two festivals and will remain with the organisation as a trustee.
CLAUDIA CONWAY, Head of Press & PR at Shakespeare’s Globe, is leaving to start a new PR company, Draper Conway, with the Globe’s former Head of Press, EMMA DRAPER.
