Chief Executive of Hackney Empire, CLARIE MIDDLETON, will step down in February to become principal of Rose Bruford College. Her departure coincides with a leadership restructure which will see the theatre led by a Director of Artistic Programme and an Executive Director, rather than a Creative Director and a Chief Executive.
After eight years in post, Donmar Warehouse Artistic Director JOSIE ROURKE has announced plans to step down in 2019. In addition, Executive Producer KATE PAKENHAM will leave in June 2018, and Casting Director ALASTAIR COOMER will leave to become Head of Casting at The National Theatre.
Arts Administrator JEAN NICHOLSON, whose portfolio includes work the Royal Opera House, Hackney Empire and London Sinfonietta, has been appointed Festival Director of Cumnock Tryst.
Using funding from the Arts Council and British Council’s Artists’ International Development Fund, Sheffield Theatres’ Chief Executive DAN BATES will take a short sabbatical from mid-February until the beginning of June to explore opportunities for the company in the Far East. Actor BENEDICT CUMBERBATCH has been selected as the new president of LAMDA. He takes over from TIMOTHY WEST, who has been in the role for more than 30 years.
English Touring Theatre has announced that ANDREW HUGHES joins the company as a Producer, having previously been Assistant to the Artistic Director at the Young Vic.
