Professor LINDA MERRICK, Principal of the Royal Northern College of Music, has become a Board member at the Association of British Orchestras. She is also Chair of Conservatoires UK, a member of the International Advisory Council for the Creative Industries Federation, and Vice-President of the Clarinet and Saxophone Society of Great Britain.

The new South West Area Chair of Arts Council England will be HELEN BIRCHENOUGH, who will begin a four-year term in December. She was Chair of both the Salisbury Playhouse and Salisbury International Arts Festival, and led the Festival into merger with the theatre and Salisbury Arts Centre to become Wiltshire Creative, of which she is a Trustee. She was Chair of Wiltshire College for five years.
Ministry of Stories Co-founder and Director LUCY MACNAB is leaving the organisation to join Arts Council England as Senior Manager for Children, Young People & Learning.
Artist PIPPA HALE, who was Co-Founder and Development Director at The Tetley and helped establish the Northern Art Prize, has joined the Board of creative development agency IVE.
CARON LOUDY has been appointed as Creative Producer at Luca Silvestrini’s Protein. She joins the international touring dance company from Greenwich Dance, where she was Creative Programme Manager and part of the senior management team.
JOHN BOOTH has been appointed as a Trustee of Tate. A non-executive director of two investment management businesses with venture capital interests in e-commerce, media and telecommunications, he chairs the London Theatre Company, the Prince’s Trust, Pallant House Gallery and the Development Board at Merton College, Oxford. He is also a Trustee of Chatsworth House, the Arts Foundation and a number of other charities.
The new Communications & PR Manager at Help Musicians UK is LIZ STOKES. She has spent over a decade in the music business in journalism and PR, recently as editor of Record of the Day. ALEX MANN, who was an Assistant Policy Officer for Arts Council England before moving on to the Musicians’ Union and then Music Venue Trust, has joined as External Affairs Manager.
Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance has appointed SARA MATTHEWS as Director of Dance from January next year. A former Director of the Central School of Ballet, she has been Dean of the Faculty of Dance since January 2017, working closely with the current Director of Dance MIRELLA BARTRIP, who is retiring at the end of 2018 after 36 years at the Conservatoire.
Following the birth of her daughter, ELEANOR GUSSMAN, Chief Executive of Spitalfields Music, has decided to step down to pursue a freelance career. STEPHEN NEWBOULD, who has covered the role during her maternity leave, will remain as Chief Executive for the 2018/19 season.
HENRY VANN, Head of External Affairs, and DERIN ADEBIYI, Public Affairs Officer at ISM, the UK's professional body for musicians, have left the organisation. ROBIN MCGHEE joins as Public Affairs and Campaigns Manager.
