A grant of almost £1m over three years has been made by the Paul Hamlyn Foundation to music north plus, the education and community team at Sage Gateshead.
Its proposed project, ?Unlocking the Future?, will enable the team to work with every secondary school in the region, in some cases over an extended period of time, through workshops and performance opportunities aimed at raising the musical aspirations of schools, pupils and teachers. To deliver the programme, music north plus will be extending its high profile education work, currently delivered through Folkworks and Northern Sinfonia. Arts professionals such as Courtney Pine have already been working with schools in the region, including Kingsmeadow Comprehensive School, Gateshead (pictured).
