Name Anne Siequien

Organisation BBC Philharmonic

Title Marketing Officer

How long in post? 5 years
t: 0161 244 4002
e: anne.siequien@bbc.co.uk

What does your organisation do?
The orchestra performs in The Bridgewater Hall, in the UK and overseas. All its concerts are broadcast on Radio 3, it has an exclusive contract with Chandos Records, and a thriving education section.

What does your job involve?
Promoting the Orchestra locally and nationally. I manage specific projects, such as our children?s ?Making Tracks? concert, as well as ongoing work which includes the website, our Chester concert series and e-marketing. There?s also the day to day marketing such as dealing with press and public enquiries, liaising with members of the orchestra and front of house duties at concerts.
Who else have you worked for? Chetham?s School of Music, doing marketing and fundraising.

What do you enjoy most about your present post?
I love being surrounded by music and amazing musicians, being part of the BBC and being involved with Radio 3.

What do you find most difficult in your present post?
There isn?t anything that?s really difficult, although it is sometimes quite demanding juggling customers? needs on a hectic concert night.

Who has influenced your career to date the most?
My manager, Amanda Dorr ? I respect her knowledge and experience. She is a brilliant mentor and I?ve learnt a lot from her.

If you could have done any job, what would it be?
A zoo-keeper!

If you had three wishes for the future of the arts, what would they be?
That the momentum and energy Manchester currently has continues to permeate the city?s culture; that we take a break from our preoccupation with youth and nurture our older audiences; and that the arts become more of a part of our lifestyle.
