The UK tour of Moon on a Rainbow Shawl, the first major production under the Eclipse theatre initiative, has concluded at Nottingham Playhouse, where the generation of new audiences has exceeded all expectations.
30% of the audience at the Playhouse was from the city?s Black communities and similar successes were reported by other tour venues, including The Oxford Playhouse, South Hill Park Arts Centre, Bracknell, New Wolsey Theatre, Ipswich, Bristol Old Vic and Northampton Theatre Royal. The production has been endorsed by The New Nation and The Voice, Britain?s leading Black newspapers, and received critical praise from both national and local press. Birmingham Repertory Theatre, which is located amongst one of the biggest culturally diverse communities in England, has now joined the original six Eclipse venues.
