Three leading arts institutions, the British Museum, the Philharmonia Orchestra and the Royal National Theatre, have collaborated to present an evening of music and performance based on the legends and mysteries surrounding the Queen of Sheba.
The event was inspired by The British Museum?s exhibition ?Queen of Sheba: Treasures from ancient Yemen?, and marked the first time the Museum has ever hosted a public concert in its forecourt. The finale saw its facade lit up with projections and a moving light show (pictured). Both the concert and the exhibition have been made possible by Barclays as part of their ?Invest and Inspire? arts sponsorship to encourage wider access to the arts across all communities. Future events will include the sponsorship of the Titian exhibition at the National Gallery in February, and Turner in Venice at Tate Britain in Spring 2003, together with a series of public events created around these.
