The Bristol Cultural Development Partnership has put out a call for papers for its forthcoming conference entitled ?Legibilities: Place, Identity and Design in the 21st Century City?. The conference will take place on April 4 next year, and will examine how the integration of art, identity and movement systems can enhance people?s experience and enjoyment of a place. Architects Wright & Wright have been appointed to develop a new £7m Lottery-funded venue for Hull Truck Theatre, including a 450-seat main auditorium and a 150-seat experimental space. A Compulsory Purchase Order has been served on the current premises, which will be demolished as part of Hull?s £150m Ferensway Regeneration Scheme.

Audience Development Agency DAN (Developing Audiences in the North) has been awarded a Regional Arts Lottery programme (RALP) grant by Northern Arts to stabilise its financial situation and enable it to develop a new website for online access to research findings.

Brighton-based digital artist Paul Farrington is using the windows of a local interiors store to showcase his new installation. The store?s front door will be linked to an interactive system, triggering customer interaction, and shoppers will be encouraged to whisper through the letterbox or knock on the door to activate a series of images revealing a daily advert.

The management consultancy McCann Matthews Millman has been renamed Matthews Millman Limited, following the resignation of Roger McCann as a Director of the company last year. The consultancy, which specialises in the cultural sector, will continue to operate from offices in both Cardiff and London.

Immediate Theatre has been short-listed for the Community Care Awards 2002 in the Drugs and Alcohol Section, for ?Cracked?, a one-day awareness-raising workshop designed for staff working with people with mental health issues and problematic drug/alcohol use in the statutory and voluntary sector. The Kimberly-Clark Professional Golden Service Award for the Best Cleaned Premises in the leisure sector, also dubbed The Oscar of the Cleaning Industry, has been awarded to London?s Royal Opera House.

Schools are being invited to submit entries before March 14 2003 for the third annual Artworks Awards. The Young Artist of the Year Awards, worth up to £2,000 for the winning schools, give teachers the opportunity to draw attention to inspiring art teaching, including partnerships with galleries and artists.
