Dr Fiona Spiers, Director of Development at Yorkshire Sculpture Park (YSP) confessed herself ?thrilled? with a new funding award of £3.5 million from the European Regional Development Fund and Yorkshire Forward, bringing their phased masterplan to reunite and restore the historic Bretton Estate a step closer to completion.
Having opened its new centre, including a restaurant and visitor facilities, in June last year, YSP will now improve the estate?s infrastructure, adding a new indoor gallery, a lifelong learning centre, new workshops and training facilities and a craft e-commerce base.

The new gallery is equipped with environmental controls to protect delicate works and their security to national indemnity standards, and will therefore be able to show a much wider selection of indoor exhibitions and work, including multimedia pieces which the region cannot at present accommodate elsewhere.
