Eastern Angles Theatre Company has been short-listed in the Small Business Category for the 2001 Anglian Business Awards, following one of the most successful years in its twenty-year history.
In 2000/01 earned income rose by 16%, with most of the increase coming from a 12% growth in ticket sales. The recent tour of ?Crossroad Blues? averaged 80% attendance, and attracted some of the most positive reviews of any of the company?s productions. The company has also secured important future investment, which will enable it to build on its success, including a Lottery grant to purchase mobile raked seating and new Box Office and computer equipment to cope with the increased demand for tickets. A 71% funding increase from 2002, resulting from the Arts Council?s Theatre Review, has been awarded in recognition of the company?s success in attracting regular and new audiences in rural places and in giving regional writers opportunities to write for the stage. This will allow an extra production a year and re-tours of past successful shows.
