A research project examining the development of creativity in the early years sector is being implemented by Northern Arts in collaboration with the Arts Council of England (ACE).
To date the research has involved a scoping exercise by the National Foundation for Educational Research, identifying existing research both nationally and internationally; and a mapping exercise identifying appropriate projects which have been developed in the Northern Region within the past two years.The exercise identified an extensive body of literature on creativity, though very little dealing with creative development of young children through arts activities, and Northern Arts, in collaboration with ACE and other Regional Arts Boards are considering further research in this area.
