A nationwide campaign to broaden the creative experience of young people by providing hands-on experience of a range of artforms has been given royal backing through the launch at Buckingham Palace of the Prince of Wales Arts and Kids Foundation.
The Prince of Wales is known as an advocate of exposing children to the arts at an early age, and the campaign to turn his vision into reality has been taken up by Arts & Business, of which he is President. Arts & Kids launches with a £1m Lottery grant to Arts & Business from the Millennium Commission under the Millennium Encore Scheme. The first corporate partner to pledge money to the work of the Foundation is Powergen, which will support the development of reading initiatives over the next three years in a bid to ?re-energise modern day storytelling and spark the imagination of the nation?s youth?.
