An information service offering help and advice relating to ticketing technologies is to be hosted by the Arts Marketing Association in collaboration with nine other umbrella bodies that collectively represent most of the UK?s cultural organisations.
The group, known as ?audiences.com?, is working together to create an online resource, funded by the Arts Council of England, which will aim to keep venues and producers up to date with ticketing technologies. The initiative has stemmed from major conferences in 1999 and 2000 which first raised concerns about how changes in the distribution processes for tickets could affect venues, producers and ticket purchasers. The new online service is to be managed by Roger Tomlinson, formerly of Tickets.com, who will be leading a working party which aims to have the new service online by October.
