The 2004 season for the Newnham Paddox sculpture park opens on May 1, introducing 60 new pieces set within a 30-acre lakeside gallery in classical landscape arranged by Capability Brown between 1745 and 1753.

A member of ArtParks International, which was founded in 1998 to provide an open-air showcase for the work of living sculptors, Newnham Paddox forms part of a 3,000-acre estate belonging to the Earl & Countess of Denbigh near Rugby in Warwickshire. Sculptors joining this year include Michael Rizzello OBE, John Baldwin and James Butler RA, but although some of the artists involved are well known, many are at the start of their professional careers. Exhibits are for sale, and a small admission charge to the park helps to pay for a 100-year programme to replace fallen or dead trees planted under Capability Brown?s original plan.
