A final report has been published by the task force established by the Clore Duffield Foundation in January last year, to consider ways of improving the standards of cultural leadership in the UK.
The proposal from the group, which has been approved by the Foundation, is to develop a new Leadership Programme specifically to meet the needs of cultural organisations. It will comprise an intensive yet flexible modular scheme, to be made available to participants over a 2-year period and managed by a Directorate. The Programme will be open to people with professional experience and proven leadership potential from all forms of cultural organisation, including administrative and funding bodies. There will be no age restrictions but the emphasis will be on creating a new generation of leaders. Participants will be referred to as ?Clore Fellows?. They will develop their leadership qualities through a range of learning approaches, including secondments, coaching, a specially devised intensive cultural leadership course, bursaries to attend existing courses, research fellowships, mentoring, an annual conference and an alumni scheme.
