In a new collaboration between the Arts Council of England (ACE),the Hayward Gallery and Yorkshire Sculpture Park, the Arts Council Collection of 500 modern and contemporary British sculptures is to move to a newly-built exhibition and storage space at Longside, in the Yorkshire Sculpture Park.
The 615sq metre gallery has been converted from a former indoor equestrian centre, with former barns and stables being developed into galleries studios and workshops.

The Collection, which up until now has been housed in London at the Hayward Gallery, includes sculptures by major British artists from Jacob Epstein, Henry Moore and Barbara Hepworth, to Rachel Whiteread, Damien Hirst and Anish Kapoor. It will continue to be managed and toured by the Hayward Gallery, and one of the primary aims of the relocation is to extend opportunities for works to be borrowed for long loans and temporary exhibitions in public venues across the country. Long loans are currently available to public buildings, such as universities, colleges, local authority buildings, law courts, libraries and hospitals, as well as to museums and galleries in the UK.
