Arts and museums education charity the Clore Duffield Foundation is exploring the possibility of setting up a new institute to promote leadership skills in the arts and cultural sector.
The Trustees of the Foundation, working with Resource: the Council for Museums, Archives and Libraries and the Arts Council of England, have expressed concern at the lack of suitable candidates for top jobs in the sector and a working group has been established to consider the issues and make recommendations on the potential role and activities of a new institution. Consultants have been appointed to undertake the research and development, and the initial phase is examining the existing range of academic and wider training available to managers in the cultural sector. The research will address training and development needs, as well as issues such as career paths, fast-tracking, and recruitment, selection and appointment processes. w: http://www.cloreduffield.org.uk
