Covent Garden Festival has announced that it is to wind up, 11 years after it was first established.
The announcement, made by Festival Director, Kenneth Richardson came after the end of a seven-year sponsorship deal with BOC, and in the absence of funding from either the Arts Council of England or London Arts Board. Kenneth Richardson told ArtsProfessional that a lack of sufficient funding and the failure to secure a major replacement sponsor had led to the decision to wind up the Festival. The company would be ?put into mothballs?, leaving the small possibility for a revival at a future date.
