A further £13m is to be committed by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) to the development of projects associated with Culture Online, the government initiative aiming to extend access to the nation?s cultural resources.
The money is to be spent on 20 to 30 targeted projects over the next two years, and the DCMS will shortly be publishing criteria for the selection of projects and inviting organisations to submit project proposals. An example given of a possible project would be the development of interactive technology to enable people to see a major exhibition at a national museum that they were unable to visit, through digital TV, the web and connections with events throughout the country.
