The Little Angel Theatre, one of only two purpose-built puppet theatres in England, has been forced to close to the public after 40 years of continuous operation.
The closure has resulted from the loss of long established funding. Despite a run of successful shows, the economics of presenting work in a 100-seat auditorium with a pricing structure that is affordable to families, have proved non-viable for the theatre. If it cannot raise sufficient funds by the autumn, it will close permanently.
