A research report compiled by the Independent Theatre Council (ITC) with
London Arts and the Association of London Government has made a series of recommendations for breaking down barriers to career progression for Black and Asian arts administrators and managers.
?The Glass Ceiling? report examines the extent to which and means by which arts organisations incorporate cultural diversity within their workforces, and includes first-hand accounts from Black and Asian administrators and managers which show how this ideal is often undermined in organisational practice. It concludes that there is no simple solution to redressing the under-representation of Black and Asian administrators and managers in the arts, and recommends an integrated approach that looks at a combination of training, employment, awareness-raising, funding and support, enhanced by further research and evaluation.
