The City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, Birmingham Conservatoire and the University of Central England have announced a new partnership aimed at promoting high levels of education and training in live music performance for aspiring professional musicians.
£25,000 has been presented to the CBSO by Birmingham Conservatoire and UCE to enable future collaborations between Conservatoire students and CBSO musicians, conductors and soloists. This new partnership will build on previous collaborations, further strengthening the links that are already in existence. It will also enable a number of key projects including, instrumental teaching by members of the CBSO, training schemes in which students are mentored by CBSO players, and student participation in CBSO Education Department projects with CBSO musicians working in schools.

Commenting on the partnership, CBSO Music Director Sakari Oramo said, ?It is so important for conductors and professional musicians to work with the stars of the future as we learn so much from each other. I look forward to developing new relationships with the students and staff of Birmingham Conservatoire.?
