The Arts Council of Wales has announced details of its new organisation structure, which will be headed up by incoming Chief Executive Peter Tyndall.
He will lead a senior management team including former acting Chief Executive Frances Medley as Deputy Chief Executive, a Finance and Central Services Director, and three Local Directors covering North, South, and Mid and West Wales. In total,80 staff will be employed at the head and local offices. The head office and South Wales local office will initially be based together in Cardiff, but separate South Wales premises will be sought over the coming year.

A number of ACW teams will report to the Deputy Chief Executive, including Wales Arts International, a Capital Team which will lead on the development of local capital projects, a Community Touring Unit, and the Literature team. A Strategic Development Team will lead on the development of national policy and initiatives, and a Research Team will have responsibility for leading on audience development. Local Directors will be responsible for the work of ACW in their regions, each leading a staff team comprising Arts Development Officers and Scheme Administrators. The North Wales team will lead on drama for ACW; the Mid and West team will lead on Visual Arts and Craft; and the South Wales team will lead on music and dance.

The new structure means that the point of contact for many revenue funded organisations and people applying for project funding will change.

Most will have new lead officers based in the local offices covering the geographical area where they are based. ACW is about to consult on a new set of schemes that will integrate grant in aid and Lottery funding, and most of these schemes will also be administered via the local offices.
