A collaboration between two universities is set to establish a new centre to promote the exchange of knowledge and expertise with London?s arts and cultural sectors. Known as The London Centre for Arts and Cultural Enterprise, the initiative is a joint venture between five colleges of the University of London: King?s College London, Birkbeck, Goldsmiths, Queen Mary and Royal Holloway College plus City University London.

It will be based at Somerset House (pictured), which is also home of the Clore Leadership Programme, whose Director, the Rt Hon Chris Smith MP sees the potential for collaboration and partnership between the two programmes. The new Centre will aim to engender a culture of innovation through enterprise teaching in arts and humanities courses across the universities, including short courses in business planning, team building and financial systems, and an annual business plan competition. It also aims to provide bespoke continuing professional development, networking opportunities, business advice and mentoring schemes between artists and businesses.
