Your editorial (ArtsProfessional issue 29, p2) implies that the Arts & Kids initiative does not fit well within Arts & Business?s core activity.
On the contrary, Arts & Business states its vision as being "to help strengthen communities by developing creative and effective partnerships between business and the arts", and Arts & Kids fits directly within this. Our President, The Prince of Wales, asked us to see how more support could be found to ensure that every young person in the UK had the opportunity to experience the arts directly. The DCMS, the Arts Council of England and the Millennium Commission are all totally behind our plans.

Arts & Business?s expertise is in challenging and inspiring the business community to see the fundamental importance and value of supporting the arts. In Arts & Kids we simply focus on the importance of children's access to the arts. In no way does Arts & Business see itself as an expert in the field of arts education. Our job is to work with and support the exemplary work already going on in the UK. Arts & Kids is a catalyst, a campaign, a call for action. It should be celebrated and supported. If it fails, we believe we will be failing future generations. Arts & Business is determined to see it succeed.
