Arts About Manchester has announced that Ivan Wadeson is to succeed Alex Saint as its new Chief Executive. For the past four years, he has been Marketing Director of the Royal Exchange Theatre and was previously Head of Marketing at Sadler?s Wells. He is Chair of the Arts Marketing Association.

Stephen Cashman is leaving the post of Chief Executive of Developing Audiences in the North (DAN) to undertake independent consultancy. He will continue to work on projects already being undertaken by DAN.


Shakespeare?s Globe has announced that Sue Robertson (pictured), most recently Chief Executive of London Arts, will take over from Jeanne Strickland as Chair of its Educational Advisory Committee. She has also taken up the post of Foundation Dean of the newly formed School of Arts at City University.

English National Opera has announced the appointment of Seán Doran as Artistic Director. Formerly Artistic Director of the Belfast Festival and Chief Executive of the UK Year of Literature and Writing, he has been Director of the Perth International Arts Festival since 2000. He will join ENO in April.

Frances Medley has been appointed as the new Chief Executive of the Cultural Enterprise Service to replace Lucy McCall. She will leave her current role as Deputy Chief Executive at the Arts Council of Wales in April.

The new artistic team at Derby Playhouse is now in place, comprising Chief Executive Karen Louise Hebden and Creative Producer Stephen Edwards. Karen was formerly Artistic Director at the new Pavilion Theatre, Dublin and Stephen is a director, writer and composer.

Robert Robson, currently The Lowry?s Theatres Director, has been appointed as the Artistic Director of the complex, with responsibility for both theatre and exhibition programming.


Essex Dance has appointed Rebecca Copper (pictured) as Programme Manager; Gemma Flynn as Community Programme Assistant, on a six month placement; and Jon Harris as Marketing Development Officer. Rebecca will leave her current post at The Place and Jon joins the company from Colchester?s Mercury Theatre where he was Press & Marketing Assistant.

Debbie Ballin has joined Intermedia Film & Video as Head of Production. She was previously executive producer of The Skill, the new talent development and training scheme which she established at Sheffield Independent Film.

Manchester Camerata has appointed Graeme Rudland as Education Consultant to succeed Gavin Reid who has taken over as General Manager of the orchestra. Graeme was formerly Senior Music Advisor to Cheshire County Council where he will remain Secondary Music Education Consultant.

Jane Coe will shortly join the Barbican as Research Executive. She previously worked for Smart, the audience development agency for the Surrey region.

Andy Stratford is now Production Manager at Walk the Plank, having previously worked there as a freelance.
