After nine years as Artistic Director of New Perspectives, Gavin Stride (pictured) is leaving to take up the position of Chief Executive of the Maltings and establish a new arts company for Farnham. He is also Chair of Pride of Place, the national organisation for rural touring companies and a regional councillor for the Arts Council of England.

Dr Gavin Wallace has been appointed as the new Head of Literature at the Scottish Arts Council. He has been Literature Officer at the Scottish Arts Council since 1997, and prior to that was an Associate Lecturer in Literature and the Humanities at the Open University in Scotland.

The Irish Government has appointed Richard Wakely, most recently Managing Director of the Abbey Theatre, as Ireland-China cultural festivals Commissioner to manage preparations for a festival of Chinese culture in Ireland in 2003 and a festival of Irish culture which is expected to take place in China in 2004.

Josie Aston is to become Press and Marketing Manager for the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment in London. She moves from Tonic, the arts and environments programme for Leeds Teaching Hospitals, where she was Arts Fundraising Officer.

Dance 4?s Dance Development Worker since 1999, Emma Jones is leaving to take up the post of Dance Development Officer for West Lothian District Council in Scotland. Admin Assistant Rachel Dunn has also left to further her youth and education work in Nottingham.

The Scottish Chamber Orchestra in partnership with the City of Edinburgh Council Education Department has announced the appointment of Rory Boyle as the city?s first Composer Laureate. Nicola Edwards has also joined Scottish Chamber Orchestra as Fundraising Co-ordinator (Membership) from the Media Relations Office of the Scottish Parliament. Tania Sincock is now Marketing Officer (Print & Publications).

Adrian Harris (pictured) has been appointed Chief Executive of Edinburgh?s Queens Hall after seven years as Director of the Nuffield Theatre at Lancaster University.

May Goodliffe has been appointed as the new Marketing Officer at the Lawrence Batley Theatre in Huddersfield. She has previously worked as Marketing Assistant at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester and with Team in Liverpool.

Festival City Theatres Trust has announced the appointment of Dr Chris Masters as its new Chairman from January 2003. Dr Masters was Vice Chairman of Scottish Opera 1996-1999 and is currently a board member of the Scottish Chamber Orchestra.

Jo Holding will join Ricochet Dance Company as General Manager in November. Since April 2001 she has been General Manager for Yolande Snaith Theatredance and prior to that worked for V-Tol Dance Company.

Danny Hearty has taken up the position of Training & Development Manager at the Independent Theatre Council. He was previously a freelance training consultant for various organisations including British Overseas NGOs for Development, Youth for Europe and the Red Cross.

Caterina Loriggio has replaced Brian Oakaby as Festival and Events Officer at the London Borough of Tower Hamlets. She was formerly Director of Celebrations for Winchester Hat Fair, Britain?s longest running festival of street theatre.
