Christopher Nourse (pictured) is to succeed Carole McPhee as Managing Director of English National Ballet. Executive Director of Rambert Dance Company for the past four years, he will take up his new position in June.

The Arts Council of England is strengthening its support for Carnival, Street Arts and Circus, including the appointment of Pax Nindi as Senior Officer responsible for Carnival. His role will be to deliver a strategy and action plan for the carnival sector, and to ensure that Carnival is integrated into ACE?s Diversity 2002 initiative. Responsibility for Circus and Street Arts now fall within the Drama Department, with Felicity Hall being seconded to work with Nicola Thorold, Director of Drama, to develop a consistent approach to these artforms across the funding system. Annabel Arndt, Director of Total Theatre Network, is to support them.

Simon Hollingworth, Education and Outreach Officer at Stamford Arts Centre, is leaving to join Guildhall Arts Centre in Grantham, where he will take up the new post of Lincolnshire Arts Education Co-ordinator.

The Theatre Royal Winchester, due to open in the autumn, has appointed Nicolas Young as its Chief Executive. Currently Theatre Officer at Southern Arts, he was formerly Director of the Portsmouth Arts Centre.

Ludlow Assembly Rooms has appointed Kate Hendry as Marketing Manager. Previously she was the Millennium volunteer co-ordinator for Bromyard, Herefordshire.

Oval House has appointed Nigel Lavender, formerly Administrative Director of The Royal Theatre, Northampton, as its new general manger. Karena Johnson, formerly Associate Director at Theatre Royal Stratford East, also joins the Oval House team, as Theatre Programmer.

Emma Killick is the new General Manager at the Lawrence Batley Theatre, joining as part of the senior management team reporting to Artistic Director Rose Cuthbertson. Emma was formerly Company Administrator for New Perspectives Theatre Company.

Cathy Green has joined the Courtyard in Hereford as Marketing Manager. Her previous arts jobs have included public relations and marketing at the Royal Festival Hall, and administrator at the Brewhouse Theatre, Taunton.
