Artists and arts organisations in the East of England are to share a prize fund of £70,000, in East England Arts? (EEA) ?6 of the Best? awards.
The winners, who were nominated by colleagues in the industry and judged by a panel of artists as well as the general public, were featured in an Anglia TV broadcast earlier this month, and in EEA?s regional magazine ?East Life? which was distributed with The Independent on Sunday across the region. Menagerie Theatre Company (pictured) has been named as ?Best Creative Business? for its management training work; Trestle Theatre Company has been voted the region?s ?Best Ambassador for the Arts? for its international work; Best Arts Event was Britten Sinfonia?s regional tour ?Light and Shade?; ?Best Place to Enjoy the Arts? is Wysing Arts; and ?Best New Talent? is visual artist Erika Tan. Critically acclaimed author Ali Smith, who has been shortlisted for both the Booker and the Orange Literature Prize, has won the prize for being ?Simply the Best?.
