The 33rd National Festival of Music for Youth, the largest youth music festival of its kind in the world, will see 300 different music ensembles take over the three concert halls on London?s South Bank for six days starting July 7.

From the 54,000 young performers at 55 regional festivals held around the country earlier this year, 12,000 are invited to perform at the National Festival, and 30 of the groups will go on to perform at the Music for Youth Schools Prom at the Albert Hall in November. As well as being a showcase for creative young people aged 4 to 21, the Festival includes a national symposium on the role of music in education presented by the Music Education Council, and to be addressed by Education Secretary Charles Clarke MP, and Culture Secretary Tessa Jowell MP.
