A new set of guidelines designed to standardise salary levels for museums staff has been issued by the Museums Association (MA).
Based on a survey of pay in museums, the guidelines suggest that the minimum entry-level salary for curatorial and education staff is set at £14,500 and for front of house staff, £13,000. Minimum pay for senior curatorial positions should start at £28,000. The MA, which represents staff working throughout the sector, hopes that the guidelines will help improve salaries, particularly in smaller museums.
