The National Theatre?s Stagework website, one of the country?s first Culture Online projects, has launched its first interactive content. Using interactive video provided by the website?s sponsorship partner, BT plc, the website now offers an ?interactive scene-builder? enabling users to develop their own ?mini production? of the recent National Theatre hit, His Dark Materials, based on the novels of Philip Pullman (pictured).
The scene-builder features the actors and director of a production discussing and rehearsing different ways of acting out a key scene. The user can then select scenes from the show and piece together a personal interpretation of the production. Charlie Gill, Stagework project manager at the National Theatre, said, ?Its uniqueness and simplicity make it appealing to many audiences, and by introducing user interactivity we aim to draw people into the production process and spark their imagination, understanding and appreciation of theatre.?
