News ? Screen Machine: Take Two
A new mobile cinema service, Screen Machine: Take Two (pictured), is taking to the roads across the Highlands and Islands of Scotland. Specially adapted to meet the requirements of the region?s roads and ferry crossings, the new machine contains a fully accessible auditorium, which can be set up in an hour.
The prototype Screen Machine I was launched in 1998 and has one of the highest per-seat average attendance figures of any cinema in Scotland. 20,000 tickets were sold in some of the region?s most rural communities in 2003. However, the prototype auditorium took four hours to set up, limiting its touring potential. The new machine is visiting over twenty villages in the region in the next six weeks.
