News ? Orchestrating online sales
The London Symphony Orchestra?s LSO Live label has become the first orchestra-run record label in the world to make its recordings available through an online music store. LSO Live has teamed up with San Francisco-based IODA (Independent Online Distribution Alliance) to make its recordings available on the iTunes Music Store.
Unlike traditional classical recordings, where the rights to the recording are owned by a record company, the musicians and conductors in every LSO Live recording retain rights to their performance and a financial stake in any revenues generated.
