The Scottish Arts Council (SAC) has made savings of nearly £1m on its current financial year and has reallocated the funds to a wide range of arts activities. The £945,000 saving has been realised by the release of funds set aside in anticipation that SAC would be required to respond to the Scottish Executive?s Cultural Commission.
Further savings were made when all SAC staff were brought under one roof at its Manor Place premises. The unexpected windfall will benefit a number of organisations including Scottish Ballet, which will receive an additional £100,000 to develop new repertoire; street arts company In Situ, which gets an extra £30,000 to create street art performances for presentation at festivals throughout Europe; and Scottish Music Centre, which will receive £50,000 towards relocation costs.
