News – Looking at art

A national strategy for contemporary visual art is being developed by Arts Council England in an attempt to build collaboration across the heritage, commercial and subsidised sectors.
The first step in developing the strategy will be a mapping of the whole sector with two regional focus studies looking at activity in the North West of England and North East London. Other areas under review will be cultural diversity, arts in healthcare and an analysis of the current funding structure for visual arts.
