From Gordon Glass, Head of Marketing, The Junction, Cambridge
I was interested by your article on Camden Council?s clampdown on flyposting (ArtsProfessional issue 85, November 1) and the high cost to the public of removal. With Camden?s alternative music scene providing such a significant part of Camden?s fashionable identity, I am mystified that a councillor would argue that ?it?s big business? and ?upsets the local community?. In Cambridge, flyposters are also a problem. If the argument is about big business, tidiness, legality and what the community prefers, I imagine that public support for removing massive legal advertising hoardings would be overwhelming, as would the support for street level sites publicising local performing arts events free of charge.
