In each of the areas, the Creative Director?s main priority is to work with the local educational authority and establish links with schools that want to engage with the programme. Having identified and established the needs of the school, the area team will then broker a relationship between school and artist. They look at compatibilities, shared concerns and enthusiasms, rather like a dating agency. And then the alchemy begins! The staff, young people and creatives are given the time and the support to take a concept through all the stages of risk, experimentation, review and reflection to its natural outcome. The final stage is to document all aspects of the project as a team ? in print, online, on film and on CD.
Long term sustainability is a key aim of the programme. Aspects of projects that can be replicated by schools and creative partners in other areas are being developed as well as partnerships with businesses that can support with sponsorship or training.

As a creative, how do I get involved?

The role of the creative in all Creative Partnerships projects is a crucial part of the equation. Whilst all partnerships are led by the needs of the young people involved, the learning and development of all parties is at the core of our philosophy.

If you?re stimulated by the idea of developing your own work and exciting young people through creative learning then Creative Partnerships? model is ideal. As an artist you would work with schools and young people to develop projects from scratch and also help to document the work so others can share in the learning. Creative Partnerships is not a funding programme ? it is about genuine collaboration and requires a spirit of openness and a willingness to explore.
