Artswork, the national youth arts development agency, has launched a new package offering professional development information for organisations and individuals currently using, or looking to use, the arts in their work with young people. A free seminar on copyright for visual artists will take place on November 9, at the London College of Fashion. The talk, by intellectual property lawyer Nicola Solomon, will cover the legal and copyright issues relating to the use of existing works of art in the creation of new visual pieces. w: http://www.own-it.org

The Irish Arts Council has compiled a new report as a first step in developing its approach to traditional arts. ?Towards a Policy for the Traditional Arts? outlines 46 recommendations concerning the traditional arts, including offering a definition of traditional arts, the funding role of the Arts Council, staffing, education and archiving.

Performance poetry organisation Apples & Snakes is staging an event at the Theatre Royal Stratford East on November 4 to celebrate seventy years of the British Council.
